Visit of Prof. Michał Bijak to Finland and Estonia
Between April 22 and 25, 2025, Prof. Michał Bijak visited Finland and Estonia to promote the objectives of the UNICOPS project and to strengthen international cooperation in the field of security and crisis management. The visit was organized in collaboration with Dr. Timo Hellenberg, President of Hellenberg International.
The main purpose of the visit was to reinforce existing partnerships and establish new scientific and institutional collaborations. During the trip, Prof. Bijak held a series of meetings with representatives of the Finnish Parliament, including Mr. Sakari Puisto, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Commerce Committee, as well as with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. Academic discussions were also conducted with representatives from the University of Helsinki, the University of Turku – including Prof. Isto Mattila – and with Estonian partners from Tallinn University of Technology and the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences.
The meetings focused on opportunities for joint research projects, applications for EU funding, and the development of training and study visit programmes under the framework of the UNICOPS project.
The visit demonstrated a strong mutual interest in deepening cooperation within the Baltic Sea region and opened new perspectives for the international activities of the Biohazard Prevention Centre at the University of Łódź.
