International three-day training for students
Students of Crisis Management from the University of Žilina (Slovakia) and Civil Defense students from the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (Tallinn, Estonia) took part in an intensive three-day international joint training dedicated to strengthening cooperation in the field of civil protection, crisis management, and disaster response.
The training program combined theoretical lectures, practical exercises, and interactive simulations, offering participants a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience. Several renowned experts, lecturers, and professionals contributed to the program, sharing their knowledge, experience, and best practices from the fields of crisis management, emergency response, and risk assessment. Their input greatly enriched the educational process and encouraged active discussion and teamwork among participants.
Throughout the program, students worked together on topics such as:
- Disaster Management and Emergency Coordination
- Risk Assessment of Emerging Threats within the European Union
- Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)
- CBRNe Training (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives)
- Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) in Crisis Response
- Presentation and Evaluation of Emergency Protocol Results
The joint training emphasized not only the technical and procedural aspects of civil protection but also the importance of international collaboration, adaptability, and communication in responding to crises effectively. By engaging in shared exercises and cross-border teamwork, students developed their leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills—key competencies for future professionals in crisis management.
During this activity, experts from ISEMI and the Secondary Vocational School of Firefighting presented their experiences, whether from exercises focused on dealing with CBRN threats or real-life experiences from interventions.
The program was intensive, inspiring, and filled with valuable lessons learned. It demonstrated that through joint effort, shared expertise, and strong motivation, we can truly rise together in civil protection and civil defence.
