Study Visit at the Czech Police Academy in Prague (Czech Republic)
The fourth study visit within the UNICOPS project took place at the Czech Police Academy in Prague, Czech Republic, on October 15, 2025. The visit was part of the ongoing series of institutional evaluations aimed at strengthening the preparedness and resilience of higher education institutions in the context of potential CBRNE threats.
The purpose of the study visit was to assess the level of institutional readiness and compliance with national and international safety standards, as well as to review the existing crisis management procedures. The evaluation focused on identifying strengths and areas for improvement in the university’s security systems, including aspects such as the structure and location of facilities, the skills and performance of security personnel, the quality of surveillance systems, and the behavior of students and staff in emergency situations.
The visit also included a verification of the university’s security procedures and staff training related to the detection, prevention, and response to CBRNE incidents. It further aimed to detect vulnerabilities and promote the exchange of good practices, thereby contributing to the development of effective risk mitigation strategies and the enhancement of the institution’s safety culture and CBRNE-related infrastructure.
The study visit followed a structured process comprising several stages. It began with a preparatory phase that involved reviewing documentation and coordinating with institutional representatives. This was followed by on-site evaluations and assessments of emergency preparedness and training. The visit concluded with a report summarizing key findings, including a gap analysis of critical vulnerabilities and non-compliance, and offering practical, risk-based recommendations for corrective action.
